What is Vicky’s Keys now?
Vicky’s Keys is Sint Maarten’s first Heritage Agrarian Campus—a living-learning hub rooted in Caribbean regenerative agriculture, heritage restoration, and climate resilience. We offer a structured academic residency experience, not a hostel or short-term volunteer center.
Who can apply for residency?
Applications are open to anyone passionate about land restoration, sustainable food systems, and community impact. We welcome local and international residents, impact travelers, scholars, and changemakers. Minimum commitment: 1 month. We recommend a 3-month cohort for the best learning outcomes.
What does the residency involve?
Residents participate in:
- Weekly agrarian learning sessions
- Field practice at Plantation Succour
- 6 hours of contribution per week
- Monthly heritage dialogue circles
- An applied project (individual or group)
- Cooperative economic activities
- Climate adaptation and hurricane preparedness training
When does the academic year run?
Our academic year is November–July, aligning with the Caribbean growing season and hurricane cycle. Rolling applications are accepted, but spaces fill up quickly.
Can I book a short stay or just visit?
No, VK no longer offers short-term hostel stays or casual guest lodging. All participants must be enrolled in the Heritage Agrarian Residency program and commit to the structured curriculum and community standards.
Is this a volunteer program?
The residency is not a casual volunteer placement. It’s a structured, field-based academic program focused on land restoration, heritage empowerment, and climate resilience. Residents contribute to campus projects as part of their learning and community membership.
